French jute, natural fibre team to visit India, Bangladesh

Business France, the French trade and investment commission, will soon send a delegation of experts from the industry and academia in jute and natural fibres to Bangladesh and India with the support of the country’s Directorate General for Enterprise (DGE). The delegation will travel to Dhaka from September 23 to 25 and visit Kolkata from September 25 to 28.

Eight French companies and universities led by the French cluster of Industry & Agro-Resources (IAR) will be a part of this delegation and will meet various government organizations, factories and companies, according to a Business France press release.

Business France is the national agency supporting the global development of the French economy and is responsible for fostering export growth by French businesses and promoting and facilitating international investment in France.

The delegation will meet the Bangladesh minister of jute Emaz Uddin Pramanik and interact with various associations, federations, universities, institutes and companies during a seminar on September 24 at the Aga Khan Foundation in Dhaka. It will also visit jute mills there.

In India, the delegation will meet various institutes and government organisations.

India is the world leader of raw jute and jute products whereas Bangladesh is the major exporter of jute products. (DS)
