India has terminated the anti-dumping investigation on imports of mono ethylene glycol (MEG) imported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Kuwait and Singapore. The probe was initiated based on a petition by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which withdrew the application last week. MEG is a major feedstock used to produce polyester fibres, films, resins, adhesives, inks and cellophane.

“Vide letter dated November 18, 2020, the Applicant withdrew the application led in the subject matter stating that in view of the current situation, they have withdrawn the aforesaid application with a liberty to resubmit the same,” the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) said in a notification.

The probe was initiated on December 9 last year. India Glycols Limited had supported the application led by RIL.

The government, in April, dropped an anti-dumping investigation over MEG imports from Saudi Arabia after RIL had sought termination of the application.
