Braskem sets new Q3 petrochemical production record

The largest petrochemical company in the Americas, Braskem said it has set a new production record in the third quarter of 2016 at its operations in Brazil. Ethylene output was at a record 903 kilo tons, while production of basic petrochemicals reached 1.6 million tons, up 4 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively, over the same period of 2015.
During the reporting period, Braskem's petrochemical crackers recorded an average capacity utilisation rate of 96 per cent, an increase of 4 percentage points from the same period last year.
Braskem's polypropylene plants in the United States and Europe also operated at an average capacity utilisation rate of 101 per cent, with output amounting to 512 kilo tons, growing 4 per cent over the year ago period. (AR)
