The European Commission (EC) has come to the conclusion of not imposing anti-dumping duties on South Korean purified terephthalic acid (PTA) products after a probe into the dumping allegations. The investigation into the Korean PTA products began in August 2016 after European competitors alleged that they are selling them at comparatively lower prices.

The investigation results revealed that the Korean products' dumping margin was less than the minimum rate of 2 per cent. Thus, under the global trade rules and regulations, anti-dumping duty cannot be imposed on them, said South Korean media reports quoting the country's foreign ministry.

The sale of South Korean PTA products touched $881 million in the European market in the year 2016, representing the largest share, according to the ministry.

PTA products are used for making polyester. (KD)
