Benzene trends slip in Asia & US, rise in Europe last week

Benzene prices showed downward trend in Asia and US, while they went up in Europe last week.

In Korea, Benzene prices went down last week due to bearish upstream energy prices coupled with lower upstream product prices. In the early days of the week, prices were at US$ 1365/ton, lower by US$ 45/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week. Prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1365-1385/ton FOB Korea.

In Japan, Benzene prices showed similar trend as in Korea in the week under review. Speculators assessed the spot prices of Benzene in the range of US$ 1370-1390/ton CFR Japan.

In India, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea and Japan last week. Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1375-1395/ton CFR India.

In Europe, Benzene prices went up slightly last week due to strong buying interest. Buying activities increased in the region. In the initial days last week, prices were at US$ 1485/ton, higher by US$ 15/ton as compared to the same period of the previous week. Prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1470-1485/ton FOB Rotterdam, during the week.

In US, Benzene prices showed similar trend as in Asia. Prices were assessed in the range of 500-520 (cents/gallon) FOB US.
