Asian benzene prices continue to spiral down this week too

Benzene prices in Asian markets of Korea, Japan and India had witnessed a downtrend in prices last week due to lower upstream energy prices in the region and fall in downstream product prices.

The falling trend in all these markets has continued in to the current week too.

In the early days of last week, Korean benzene prices were at US$ 1330/ton, lower by US$ 20/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week.

During last week, prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1315-1330/ton FOB Korea as compared to US$ 1345-1360/ton in its previous week.

Prices went down further in the current week and were assessed at US$ 1290/ton yesterday (Aug 27) as compared to US$ 1310/ton on August 25.

In Japan, prices showed similar trend as in Korea last week. Spot prices were seen in the range of US$ 1320-1335/ton CFR Japan as compared to US$ 1350-1365/ton in its previous week.

Prices declined in the current week also and were spotted at US$ 1295/ton yesterday, down by US$ 20/ton as compared to US$ 1315/ton on August 25.

In India, prices showed similar trend as Korea and Japan last week. Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1325-1340/ton CFR India last week, vis-à-vis US$ 1355-1370/ton in the previous week.

Prices continued on a downward spiral this week as well and were quoted at US$ 1300/ton yesterday, vis-à-vis US$ 1320/ton on Monday.
