ANUPAMA DAYAL PRESENTED A MAGICAL COLLECTION FOR THE URBAN WOMAN AT Lakmé FASHION WEEK

Mumbai October 21, 2008: "The Gallerina" is how Anupama Dayal titled her Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Lakmé Fashion Week, where she creatively blended the minimalism of post war Scandinavia with stylish Indian beauty. The result was a cross over line that brought together the patterns and motifs of rural Bengal with strong influences of painter Jamini Ray.

There was also richness in embellishments with Victorian embroidery, dazzling with gems like agate, chalcedony and onyx and adding to these was traditional patchwork collage. Anupama's prints were rich in mineral tones that gave an organic look to the creations.

The shade card was oyster pink, amethyst, faded gold, mocha, ash, magnolia, papaya and chalcedony in an assortment of fabrics that ranged from crepe, georgette, brocade, satin to cotton Lurex and chikan kari voiles for long and short dresses some comfortable cropped pants and tunics.

The exciting entries were the chiffon patched and pleated dress in multi colours, the paisley printed satin scarf dress trimmed with beads, the papaya georgette long flowing racer back creation, the very interesting double breast trench coat for summer in cotton lurex with water sequin work and the blood red chiffon long one shouldered gown. The solitary sari in faded gold continued the theme of the show beautifully.

"The Gallerina" collection by Anupama Dayal was a pleasant mix of the east and west with cool summer dresses in fluid fabrics mixing with the traditional touches of India in the print and solid story.
