KHANNA'S SENSATIONAL MEN'S WEAR COLLECTION GOT A THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE AT LAKME
FASHION WEEK
MUMBAI 22 October 2008:The stage was set for the delightful
flavours of fashion with an ice-cream parlour set on the ramp with a candy
striped awning; and the entry of sexy Bollywood beauty, Kim Sharma as she
strolled down the ramp enjoying a cool ice cream cone.
The delicious colour offering for Spring/Summer 2009 at the Lakme Fashion Week
by Arjun Khanna for men's wear was Vanilla. So little wonder that his
collection was called "Ice Cream".
Weaving his full collection around just one colour with hints of mint,
strawberry mocha, blueberry, lemon, butterscotch and sorbet; Arjun's
imagination was put to the ultimate creative test as he unleashed a menu of the
most delightful sherwanis, jackets, Jodhpuris, shirts, waistcoats and trousers
with each piece being a great attention getter.
The fabrics ranged from linen, cotton and cotton silk blends which were used in
innovative mixes for the garments with interesting detailing like belted backs,
wing collars, skinny ties and bow ties.
Working around the theme of his collection Arjun constructed his trousers by
cutting and patching them in nine part patterns and gave the sleeve cuffs
shapes like ice-cream ripples. Known for his regal sherwanis Arjun dreamt them
up in more western and stylized forms, with minute detailing with velvet
over locking, epaulets, zardosi patches, chevrons and texturing with swirls,
appliqués, scallops which were of a superior nature. The immaculate
finish of the garments was amazing with each outfit an exclusive piece.
 
Silhouettes were structured and lean with jackets having multiple buttons or
just two, single or double vents and touches like shoulder pockets, pleating
and tonal embroidery.
Styling his models with snow white wigs and smart leather footwear, Arjun ended
the show on a hilarious high note when the models took the ramp for the
finale wearing Arjun Khanna masks.
When it comes to men's wear of the ultimate kind and showmanship of a high
order, Arjun Khanna has no competition. His "Ice Cream" collection
will be the coolest choice for the stylish men around the globe.
