Sonu Sood shares ramp with
Shweta for Abdul Halder at LFW
For Fall/Winter 2009 Abdul Halder forsake his western line at Lakme Fashion Week
and proved that he is as creative and stylish when it comes to ethnic Indian
wear.
With a collection that revolved around glittering lehengas and cholies, some
short tunics, kurtas and some graceful pre-stitched saris; he added on bridal
sherwanis with either churidars or Aligarh pants for men in jewel colours of
purple, aquamarine, red, turquoise, orange, brown, rust, green and shocking
pink. The basis of his ensembles was in lush fabrics like velvet, chiffon and
silk. It was the colours of Radha-Krishna pictorial arts that inspired Abdul
and his creations were a celebration of bridal wear for both sexes.
The extravagant embroidery in gold, silver and gotta work added to the drama of
the clothes. Some of the stunners were the velvet peplum jacket with long
sleeves which was innovatively teamed with a shocking pink embroidered sari, a
red dazzling figure hugging lehenga, a beautiful black silver bordered sari
with an encrusted choli and an elegant white one button Raja coat with
churidars. Abdul’s colour combinations were totally Indian in nature, as he
celebrated by teaming emerald with shocking pink for a tunic teamed with knit
churidars.
The finale was gorgeous Bollywood actress Shweta Bhardwaj in a fully embellished
will-power corset and slinky lehenga and handsome Bollywood actor, Sonu Sood
the star of Jodha Akbar in a sophisticated white sherwani.
Aiming at the bridal wear market for the coming season, Abdul Halder has
definitely scored with a winning collection which will appeal to trousseau
shoppers in India.
