Asmita Marwa’s Maya offers lot of style, comfort & elegance

It was a fabric story that blended with Tartan checks, antique Banares zari, khadi and the calligraphy from Asmita Marwa’s native Telugu that came together for her collection called “Maya and her Jaggery Knots” – a quirky title for a collection, but the designer proved that it can make a great fashion statement for Fall/Winter 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week.

Inspired by the painter Gustav Klimt the range of garments were created for the woman of the 21st century who wants creations that make her the cynosure of all eyes.

Using calligraphy in an interesting manner Asmita added it to the sides of ivory pants and sleeves of long fluid blouses. The Tartan checks moved from smock dresses, empire line tunics, pants, churidars, and even for cholies and borders on off- white saris. The Banares zari weave in brown with gold motifs was a constant for the pinafore, skirts and blouses.

The look was very feminine, very rustic and trendy with a fluid silhouette for nearly all the garments right from the blouses, tiered skirts, tiered trousers, pinafores, jumpsuits and dresses. Layering appeared for most garments while a mix of prints, colours and fabrics gave an interesting ethnic look to western wear.

Asmita Marwa’s creations had that touch of delicate fashionable “Maya” touch which will appeal to women who want to dress in clothes that spell not only comfort but offer a lot of style and elegance
