Inspired by her travels and the beautiful crafts of India, Anupama Dayal once again presented one of the most feminine and interesting collections for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week.
Playing creatively with the colours of India, Anupama had a line of pretty dresses which she fused with western silhouettes to present a delightful collection called “Joie” (Joy in French). Colours blossomed on the ramp with blue, electric, cobalt, lavender, violet, nude, light green, burnt toffee, scarlet, crimson and fluoro pink for gently swaying and softly clinking chanderis, voiles, chikankari, tissues and satins for day and cocktail dresses, some elegant gowns, tunics, skirts, cropped pants and just one sari.
Embellishments were sparingly used with sequins, chunky wooden beads, mirrors, metallic flowers and ribbons, cut dana work and graphic prints, which all added to the look of the collection.
The blue satin fairaisle printed dress with a single pouch pocket and chiffon tie back, the amethyst poncho style dress with appliquéd tie belt, the violet fully sequined strappy dress with large side pockets, sequined draped pants, hot pink satin dress with printed columns of camellia and asymmetric sides were some of the scene stealers.
When it comes to blending the ethnic sensibilities of India and the silhouettes of the west; Anupama Dayal is quite an expert season after season.
