Day 5

Chaitanya Rao 22nd , Sep 2009 1:30 PM

In a collection that had touches of geometric and graphic lines, that matched the prints of the designs by Chaitanya Rao for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week, the designer made a perfect offering for those hot summer days for men and women.

With a western silhouette for his garments, Chaitanya opened the show with a cutwork lace hem for a lovely dress and followed it with an ecru textured pair of pants with a very pretty bolero.

A tiny pleated purple mini skirt will make a great addition to a teen’s wardrobe; while for something a little more sophisticated an off shoulder chiffon kimono sleeve cover will appeal to women who go for the leisurely look. Cowl pants, a yellow chiffon drop waist dress and an elegant satin sari draped dress were some of the other creations.  The other striking entries were an orange and grey shaded organza blouse and a grey organza coat sprinkled with 3D daisies. The colour story was pastel with large sunflower prints and geometrics which appeared in different colours and forms.

Men’s wear was very sparse – leather finished suits with zipper accents or suits in grey and lilac geometric print in conventional shapes. Fabrics were summery with linen, chiffon, satin, and georgette.

The finale was a fluid yellow and black abstract flower crepe dress and an organza one shoulder gown that completed the cool casual to formal collection.

For Spring/Summer 2010 with a collection so feminine it was apparent that style and design came together perfectly from the studio of Chaitanya Rao.
