"LAKMÉ & IMG - CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF FASHION" PRESENTED BY SAMIRA HABITATS

Over the past decade, Lakmé and IMG's partnership in fashion has been instrumental in promoting the growth of the Indian fashion industry.

The year 2000 was a milestone for Indian fashion, with the first Lakmé India Fashion Week being held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. With this event, Lakme and IMG helped the country take its first step towards being recognized as a source of creativity and inspiration in the global fashion community.

2009 is a landmark year as we complete 10 years of this exciting journey. The partnership between Lakme and IMG has helped carve a trail for India's creative inspiration and the development of the fashion business. Lakme Fashion Week serves as the premier platform to launch new designers and showcase India's best, talented established designers. LFW also serves as a fertile meeting ground where domestic and international buyers alike interact with designers to support the business of fashion.

This decade of progress and evolution marks an important milestone in the Indian Fashion industry. As such, Lakme and IMG take this opportunity to reflect on the evolving fashion industry by bringing together some of India's best known fashion talents in one show. This hallmark event showcases many of the past Lakme Grand Finale designers who have come together to produce one show that travels from "Then" to "Now" and ultimately to "Forever".

Each esteemed designer will walk us through the "Then" aesthetic in audio visual format which introduces designers and their Grand Finale collections, inspired by various themes of that particular season. Next, the journey continues with two looks depicting the designer's evolution of his or her aesthetic from that time to "Now", which is the designer's representation of what that theme means today. Finally, the designer presents his or her vision of what is perceived as eternal, classic visions into the future with his or her "Forever" girl.

This show is a unique concept that encapsulates and illustrates the history and provides a glimpse into the future of Indian fashion through the artistic representations of key fashion influencers over the past 10 years. This is not a show to be missed.
