Day 5

Narendra Kumar 22nd , Sep 2009 7:00 PM

Very unconventional and practical is how one can describe Narendra Kumar’s collection at Westside for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week. Aimed at “real” people in all shapes and sizes, the designer showed a line that will appeal to women from 18-24 years. The models for the show were college girls who were selected to wear Narendra’s very trendy line.

The collection called “Ethno City” was inspired by Tangiers, the Moroccan city where modern architecture, blends with an ethnic bend.  Lots of tops, jeans, tunics, some oriental pants, dresses and brightly printed shirts in colours like red, cobalt blue, yellow and browns made a great line. Designed from specially woven fabrics and hand made, the collection had puff sleeved checked blouses, drawstring hem minis, bubble skirts, smocks, silk sheaths, very trendy knit hooded dress, high waist jeans and some pretty little black dresses with detailing. The fabrics selected by Narendra were mainly cotton woven and knits, for day wear and graphic prints in polyester. For evening wear it was satin in after dark shades.

What more can women ask for, when a designer like Narendra Kumar devotes his creativity to giving them a wardrobe they will love to wear anytime anywhere.
