Day 4

Paromita Banerjee 21th, Sep 2009 12:00 PM

Working on a neutral story which swayed from white to ecru and then gradually added colours and returned to its white base, “Safed Rang” by Paromita Banerjee was a collection that   revolved around mul mul, Kora, Handloom and Tangail and brought in contrasts of sheer with solids. The leaf motif was constant and appeared occasionally in unconventional placement on the garments.

An angarkha wrap kalidar kurta, a swirling black and ecru printed checked ghera with leaf outline embellishments, a striking reversible waistcoat, a Tibetan wrap style kurta with ribbed churidars pants,  khadi red full sleeved wrap top with wrap over belt and a kora handloom Tangail “A” line panelled kurta were some of the eye-catching looks on the ramp.

Detailing was partial to faggoting which appeared discreetly on the sleeves, front or sides of the outfits. While the collection was a fusion line, there were marked Tibetan, Mughal and Ethiopian influences for the pyjamas, ghera skirts and kurtas. Paromita Banerjee once again scored with her light and trendy summer 2010 line.
