Lorna Jane, the premier activewear brand for women, is following the success of its debut US boutique in Malibu's prestigious Lumber Yard with the opening of its second Californian store, located in Marina del Rey, this month.

The waterfront lifestyle of the Marina del Rey area offers an abundance of outdoor and recreational activities, making it an ideal location for Lorna Jane's second store.

Founder and chief creative officer Lorna Jane Clarkson said the location aligns with the brands aim to encourage all women to live actively.

"We are very excited to have found the location of our second store in California," said Ms Clarkson.

"Bill, my husband and Lorna Jane CEO, and I have visited Marina del Rey many times on our trips to the US and have always enjoyed the active lifestyle there.

"The brand and my own personal philosophy, Move Nourish Believe, resonates with the healthy and vibrant nature, and we hope the women in the area will embrace Lorna Jane and love what we have to offer," she said.

Lorna Jane clothing is designed to support all areas of your active life from the gym to dance classes, outdoor exercise, swimming, running, yoga and Pilates, or cycling.

The Marina del Rey store will carry the full Lorna Jane collections of up to 100 new pieces each month, including the brand's exclusive and sought after luxury LJBlack line, as well as Little Miss Lorna Jane pieces for children.

Spanning 1200sqft, larger than its sister store in Malibu, the store is situated next to a Starbucks and a Menocino Farms outlet. The fit-out compliments the long and narrow floor plan, creating an inviting and welcoming space within which to shop.

The decor is representative of a classic Australian Lorna Jane store so that the culture and history of the brand can be conveyed to the US customer.

The walls are whitewashed, complemented by timber floors, and soft furnishings. Inspirational sayings and inspiring images greet you as you enter and the colour scheme is warm and uses neutral tones.

Lorna Jane is renowned for its community stores which build relationships with local customers. Marina del Rey is a smaller neighbourhood shopping mall and the store will aim to engage with the local audience in order to become a part of the community.

Lorna Jane entered the US market in March 2012 and hopes to further expand the brand within the California state. A third flagship store is scheduled to open in June in Santa Monica, and an online retail store will launch later this year.

One of Lorna Jane's top Australian sales managers will move over to California to manage the Marina del Rey launch.
