Niti Aayog kicks off Indian e-commerce policy review

A Niti Aayog committee set up for the purpose, held deliberations with senior officials of Indian and foreign online retailers; thereby kick starting the process of reviewing the existing policy for the sector. These e-commerce players made detailed presentations, outlining issues holding back growth potential and measures to ease regulations.

A senior Niti Aayog official told the Economic Times that e-commerce players made detailed presentations, outlining issues holding back growth potential in the sector and what needs to be done to ease regulations.

Earlier in August, the government had set up a 12-member committee chaired by Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, to revamp the existing policy by examining the issues in the e-commerce sector and recommend steps to liberalise the sector. (AR)
