Demonstrating its commitment towards the environment, textile manufacturer Eurojersey will involve Italian mountain climber Marco Confortola in the SensitivEcoSystem environmental sustainability project.

As part of the collaboration, Confortola will climb the Dhaulagiri peak, in Nepal, which at 8,167 metres is the world’s seventh highest mountain, for two months beginning April 1, 2015, the company said on its website.

Confortola will be the spokesperson for Eurojersey Sustainable Enterprise and will take six barrels from the company’s printing department on his journey.

The barrels, which are used daily to contain the colours of the Eurojersey printing department, will become Confortola’s “suitcases” while climbing in Nepal.

“After the expedition, the barrels will be donated to local sherpas who will reuse them for their purposes, such as water and food transportation,” Eurojersey said.

Confortola has so far climbed eight of the 14 Himalayan peaks. His achievements include taking part in the installation of weather station at an altitude of 8,000 metres on the southern side of Mount Everest.

Established in 1960, Eurojersey has a patented range called Sensitive Fabrics, and the company is often a reference point of Italian-made warp knit fabrics. The company has a vertically integrated production plant with annual capacity of 15 million metres of fabric.
