Prosperity bags environmental impact reduction certificate

Chinese denim fabric producer, Prosperity Textile said it has bagged a Clean by Design Certificate of Achievement 2014 from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).
NRDC launched its ‘Clean by Design’ initiative in 2009 as an innovative green supply chain program to leverage the power of multinational corporations to reduce the environmental impacts of their supplier factories.
“Working with a number of prominent global apparel retailers and brands, like Target, Gap Inc., Levi Strauss and H&M, NRDC has focused this program first in the textile industry in China,” said a Prosperity Textile press release.
In 2014, thirty-three mills that completed the program, provided initial benchmarking information, hosted expert consultations, submitted plans, undertook improvements and completed reports to evaluate the results.
More than 90 per cent of the 231 projects proposed for implementation were completed in 2014, and the program reduced in total more than 3 million tons of water, 61,000 tons of coal, and 36 million KWH of electricity.
“Prosperity Textile advocates low-carbon development strategy and integrates green manufacturing concepts through all stages of our company’s operation,” it added.
“This begins from eco-materials, recycling water, gas and chemical, to installing sewage treatment system and eco-washing technology,” Prosperity Textile informed.
Through the program of Clean by Design 2014, the Company has successfully reduced the average energy use by more than 10 per cent.
“It is a great honour to receive this world-class award which recognises our commitment to sustainability and improving the utilisation of low-carbon manufacturing strategy,” GM at Prosperity Textile, Xiang Gu said.
“In future, we will further focus on further refining our product manufacturing processes and driving reductions in carbon emissions wherever possible,” he too added by saying.
Founded in 1995, Prosperity Textile is a denim fabric manufacturer, providing R&D, design and manufacturing services to global garment clients.
Prosperity Textile specialises in the manufacture of denim fabrics, with a 20-hectare state-of-the-art production plant located in Shaoguan, China.
As a vertically integrated manufacturer, the Company has invested heavily to deploy modern and automatic systems throughout dyeing, weaving and finishing process.
