Sustainable Textile School 2017 will launch the online Textile University 4.0 for the first time. The three-day textile school event organised in cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology, will begin from September 18, 2017 in Germany. This textile university will work on creating a platform to think globally, digitally, and sustainably.

Textile University 4.0 will consider all areas and all factors of the textile value creation chain, including their recycling processes, from natural and artificial fibres to the finished item, whether it is a headliner or a shirt. The aim is to establish a supply-chain management and product development management system, as well as an entrepreneurial decision template for participants from an engineering point-of-view.

"In close cooperation with the digital learning software provider, Chemmedia, online-based Textile University 4.0 will be developed. As part of Sustainable Textile School 2017, there will be a knowledge and engineering-based neutral demonstration of an ecologically sustainable textile production from fibre to finished product," stated the press release.

The future of textile industry will be digital. It has become important to develop young professionals in a more targeted manner so that they can take advantage of the opportunities and risks of digitalisation and advancing globalisation in terms of sustainability as both an employee and a business person.

Further, digitalisation will also help to change the teaching and education of students and the further training of industry professionals, allowing knowledge and content to be transmitted and received any time, any place. It will be no longer crucial for teachers to welcome their students to lecture halls with attendance lists; it will be much more about combining the learning material, level and targets in a more customer and student-focused manner and transmitting this material online.
