Michelman joins UD-CCM to evaluate fibre sizing solutions

Michelman has joined the University of Delaware’s Centre for Composite Materials (UD-CCM) Industry Consortium, a pioneer in university-industry partnerships, becoming one of the 55 members. It will sponsor a research which will help in evaluation of sizing options of carbon and glass fibre for their compatibility with both thermoplastic and thermoset resins.

Michelman’s leading position as a sizing and surface treatment expert will complement UD-CCM’s premier materials research and technology transfer expertise. The collaboration will focus on identifying the best sizing fibre and resin combinations that will enhance properties of composites like increased heat, impact and fatigue resistance appropriate for a broad range of end-use applications in the automotive, aerospace and electronics industries.

UD-CCM established its University-Industry Consortium ‘Application of Composite Materials to Industrial Products’ in 1978. Since then, it has collaborated with some 275 companies representing materials suppliers and end users in the aerospace, automotive, and durable goods industries. (VM)
