In line with the current policy of the Indian government to promote ‘Make in India’, the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) in association with the ministry of defence, Government of India, is organising a two-day exhibition cum seminar.

The event will be held on 26-27 February, 2015, at Ashoka Convention Hall, Manekshaw Centre, Parade Road, Delhi Cantt.

The Indian defence sector is one of the largest consumers of technical textile products in the country, which, in addition to a range of conventional technical textile products, consume specialised functional textiles, many of which are imported.

At the exhibition cum seminar, various users from the Army, Navy, Air force, and Paramilitary forces would interact with ITTA members and present the requirements of defence forces, defence procurement procedures, etc., while indigenous manufacturers will get an opportunity to showcase products and capabilities to create a new era of manufacturing and sourcing of these products from India.

The event is expected to be attended by more than 120 delegates from the Army, Navy and Air force procurement agencies, Paramilitary and central police forces’ procurement agencies, Ordnance Factory Board, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), etc.

On display will be all technical textile products presently consumed by the defence forces and future products being researched. The exhibition will include items from Ordnance Factory Board, DRDO and Ordnance Services.

Over the two days, 5 technical sessions will also be held on defence procurement procedures and budgeting; requirements of defence forces; DRDO initiatives and latest trends; capabilities, inventory, product improvement and budgeting of ordnance factories; and quality assurance, testing facilities and parameters.
