Retail software provider, Aptos, has been named as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Point of Sale (POS) Software in Large Enterprise Retail Apparel and Softlines Vendor Assessment. IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model provides an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT (information and communications technology) suppliers in a given market.

The report evaluates the landscape of POS vendors servicing large enterprises in the apparel and softlines retail sector, looking in particular at the omni-channel scenarios and capabilities that the vendors are delivering.

The study focused on the ten most prominent vendors in the market, vendors with established market presence addressing omni-channel commerce with enterprise-grade POS solutions designed for the multi-store environment.

Of the ten assessed vendors, Aptos was one of only two vendors to be named as a ‘leader’. The report noted that one of Aptos’ key strengths is its ‘overall attention to execution in POS solution capabilities, innovation, go-to-market execution, and customer focus’.

Currently, more than 300 retail brands in over 40 countries rely on Aptos’ POS solution, Aptos Store, to deliver seamless store experiences that span channels, locations, and devices. Aptos Store enables associates to provide exemplary service by providing easy access to all the information required to satisfy the expectations of today’s omni-channel shopper, from product and promotion information to customer loyalty and purchase history.

IDC retail insights research manager, Robert Eastman said, “POS technology has become imperative to retailers’ abilities to deliver a thriving store experience. With the omni-channel commerce retail environment changing so rapidly, to respond to the rapidly escalating expectations of consumers in this hypercompetitive industry, the point of sale continues to be the central nervous system for the store trying to deliver a differentiating, immersive customer experience.”

Aptos CEO and culture leader, Noel Goggin said, “Aptos’ positioning as a leader in the IDC MarketScape report recognises our rich heritage in store systems combined with our focus on innovation to evolve the store as the centrepiece of a seamless omni-channel journey. As the report explains, Aptos distinguishes itself with its focus on engaging customers differently, our singular commerce platform, and development of more than 40 omni-channel POS use cases. We are proud to help global retailers reinvent their customer experiences with our industry-leading technology.” (GK)
