Virtual product development on the move

Virtual product development is becoming increasingly important in the apparel industry. The Human Solutions Group now presents the outstanding features of its simulation software Vidya in detail.

The high-resolution images are convincing: shirts, pants, dresses and coats – almost any garment can now be very accurately simulated with a high degree of realism.

The decisive factor about Vidya is the interaction of human, material and pattern, because the program doesn’t access just any generic avatars – upon request, it’s delivered with a scanatar studio that corresponds to the standard sizes of SizeGERMANY. And there’s more too – the body shapes are designed to exactly match those of the human body, the materials are imaged according to their stiffness and drape behavior – and any pattern and style changes are immediately visible.

Vidya simulates all the folds, seam types, darts, buttonholes and zippers as if they were real. If the pattern is changed, the simulation is re-created. This means that even the size & fit philosophy of the pattern can be reviewed. A 3D preview in 2D also helps in collaboration.

In product development, the possibility to simulate a garment before you hold the stitched product in your hands really creates clear advantages: size & fit, color, fabric and applications can be checked very early, in all variants and sizes.

The number of prototypes – and consequently samples – can be reduced, lowering costs and reducing the timeframe required. Vidya also offers real benefits in coordination when it comes to discussing garment alterations with your suppliers.

When you access the new website, it feels ‘open’ and looks very modern. A new structure and easy navigation create transparency, providing good orientation and focused access to Vidya information, solutions and services. The website also features a new, responsive design, which dynamically adapts to the viewing screen size, making it ideal for mobile devices.

“Many visitors to our website use mobile devices to access web information. So when we designed the website, we wanted an optimal display for smartphones and tablet PCs”, explains Alexandra Lang, Manager Web, Human Solutions Group.
