Elie Tahari is aggressively expanding its global presence and product lines including the launch of accessories, men's, and a geographic expansion of its store and supply networks in Europe and Asia.
For most fashion companies, each of these moves would individually be considered difficult but Elie Tahari appears to thrive on the challenge.
One key contributing factor to the company's ability to take on and effectively manage such growth can be found in its long-term commitment to information technology. “IT is considered strategic to our company”, noted Jason Epstein, Chief Technology Officer. “We believe that our ability to highly leverage our technology investments provides us with a competitive advantage.”
This advantage plays out in Elie Tahari's capacity to integrate new product lines and supply chains in record time and with remarkable results. “Our technology investments are truly paying off for us by supporting our business strategy to expand rapidly on a large scale” added Epstein. “We are currently integrating new business partners that are producing new product lines such as men's and women's footwear.
Once we get established with these suppliers and understand their business processes, we then consolidate activities as much as possible into a unified PLM system to gain visibility into all of our different divisions, price points, categories and countries.”
Case in point is the recent addition of new suppliers in Italy. By integrating these new partners into its existing VerTex PLM solution, Elie Tahari is able to enjoy full visibility into design, product development and sampling activities there from within the same system used throughout its New York offices. The company first began implementation of Business Management Systems' VerTex PLM solution in late 2002 with the fabric department.
