Paxar Corporation a global leader in providing identification and tracking solutions to the retail and apparel industries announced the availability of its new environmentally friendly fabric labels made of natural raw and recycled materials.
The latest 'green' labels include woven labels and woven-edge tapes made from recycled polyester yarns and organic cottons, and are designed to meet Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines for recycled products in reducing energy consumption and conserving petroleum resources.
Apparel makers and retailers are increasingly incorporating eco-friendly fashions in their product lines, and are taking significant steps to employ best business practices that lessen harmful consequences to the environment.
Once considered the trend of special brands, the "green" or "eco" chic movement is now being taken up by mainstream labels looking to meet the needs of an expanding market of environmentally conscious consumers.
According to a survey by market researcher NPD Group, about 18% of shoppers now say they're interested in buying organic, green or eco-friendly products, up from 5% in 2000.
In response, Paxar has developed and now offers a variety of care label options to complement this ever-widening interest of brands in providing 'green' fashions. New solutions include: • Woven labels using recycled yarn for lettering 100% recycled yarn; label woven with recycled filling yarns combined with standard warp yarns.
