No To Fakes to augment anti-counterfeiting service for brand owners

Singular ID, the provider of the integrated high technology enterprise brand security system called enxure, announced that it has launched a new web portal to augment its anti-counterfeiting service for brand owners.

Designed as a one-stop platform for consumers keen to buy genuine products by identifying fake goods in the market place, No To Fakes helps brand owners to disseminate key information about their authentic products.

“As a consumer one has a choice of whether to buy genuine products or fake products. The problem is that most of us are unable to be certain whether something is genuine or not in the shop.

Holograms and other visual security devices are a help, but only if you know what to look for”, commented Dr Adrian Burden, Chief Executive Officer of Singular ID.

“Moreover, what are the ramifications if you were to buy a fake? Health, safety, warranty and quality will all be called into question depending on the nature of the item. Furthermore the consumer may face serious fines if they are found with counterfeits.”

The No To Fakes portal provides general news about fake products as reported around the world by various news agencies, as well as more specific news within sectors and relating to brands.

This provides an up to date view of the extent of the problem, helping to educate the consumer and raise awareness of the issues.

Most importantly, individual brand owners can subscribe to the service to manage their own pages for their brands. This enables certain information about the security features to be disseminated; for example what to look for on a particular hologram or how to test the authenticity of a product.

Companies go to great expense to add security features to products, but educating the consumer to be aware of them is a significant hurdle.

“Although Singular ID, the host of this initiative, has its own brand security platform, brand owners can explain any of their adopted technologies to the consumer using this forum”, explained Dr Peter Moran, Chief Technology Officer of Singular ID.
