Brandwise brings green efficiencies to Salomon sales process

Salomon USA, a sixty-two year old innovative manufacturer of ski and snowboard equipment, as well as footwear and apparel, has announced an agreement with Colorado-based technology provider, Brandwise Inc. Well known in many industries for its sales-related software solutions, Brandwise will implement its Visual Merchandiser application, part of a suite of integrated technology aimed at speeding up the sales process and improving the buying experience for their dealer customers through better merchandising. The application also brings green efficiencies to the sales process by allowing Salomon to rely less on printed catalogs, and by delivering orders and proposals electronically.

"With the continued growth of our footwear and apparel business, Visual Merchandiser provides our sales team with a strong tool to create customized and impactful proposals and presentations to our customers," said Bill Nicoll, Vice President of Salomon USA. "It assists the salesman and buyer with streamlined assortment plans making our sales process more efficient. We're excited to be working with Brandwise to help grow our business."

Of chief concern to Salomon when selecting a technology provider was the speed of sale. They felt the industry-standard method of mailing large dealer catalogs to customers was cumbersome and antiquated. These catalogs could span hundreds of pages of pictures and product descriptions, and are often shipped multiple times per year to secure a single order. By automating this process with Brandwise technology, Salomon's sales team can write a single order for several retail storefronts, spanning multiple ship dates and including dozens of coordinated items, in a matter of minutes, while the customer actively participates.

The technology's visual nature also improves merchandising within each order. "One feature allows the manufacturer to build an order using pre-designated product 'collections,' complete with all the colors and styles that make for an eye-catching retail display, taking the guesswork out of selecting related products on an order," says Todd Litzman, President of Brandwise. Another feature enables sales reps to provide the retailer with suggested items by category. "Using this feature allows Salomon to work together with the retailer to build a powerful and marketable merchandising plan which represents the entire product line," Litzman concludes.

Poised to complete more sales per year, and provide better justification for the content of each order, Salomon believes it could see revenue dollars increase through use of this technology, while simultaneously reducing catalog printing costs and their carbon footprint. There are benefits for their customers as well, since retailers can quickly order product collections already proven to be good sellers and review their past orders online. Salomon is confident this technology will improve the efficiency of the order process for both Salomon and its customers.
