Carole Hochman turns to QlikView BI software

Faced with analyzing large-scale data cubes representing millions of transactions, Carole Hochman Design Group the prominent apparel maker for Lauren Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Betsey Johnson, Jockey, Chaps, and Lilly Pulitzer sleepwear collections turned to QlikView business intelligence software and Visual Data Group to not only tap into, but interact with, their sales data.

The company began considering alternatives to their OLAP-based legacy business intelligence package when the software failed to handle millions of rows of product, point-of-sale and customer data. In order to gain greater visibility into replenishment and consumer trends, a year-long feasibility study was launched and the company ultimately hired the Visual Data Group — known for their deep experience in supply chain and apparel operations — to implement a QlikView-driven sales platform. The initial application was rolled out after ten weeks' development, on time and on budget.

"We have been running QlikView since March, and we've already seen a 99% reduction in processing time for more complex routines," said Richard McKee, Application Development Manager for Carole Hochman Design Group. "We look forward to other areas of the business reaping the same benefits of information access and have already begun working on a C-level executive dashboard and are extending QlikView into warehouse management and product lifecycle management as well as finance."

"The gap between data and decisions is wide, but our retail and consumer goods customers see the need to bridge that gap with business intelligence as essential to stay ahead of the competition," said Rebecca Braverman, Director of Global Market Development for QlikView. "Companies like Carole Hochman Design Group understand that they cannot stay locked into the confines of legacy OLAP, if they are to achieve the flexibility and agility to continue to lead in their market."

Founded in 1930, the Carole Hochman Design Group is a dominant force in the women's sleepwear and intimate apparel industry. The company's namesake brand Carole Hochman, is known for its premium pima cotton sleepwear and loungewear. CHDGroup also owns the luxurious intimate apparel collection OnGossamer along with several licensed designer collections including Lauren Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Betsey Johnson, Jockey, Chaps, Lilly Pulitzer and Stan Herman. CHDGroup's private label business is a major channel of distribution with diverse accounts.
