Indo Intertex to focus on productivity for sustainability

The 15^th Indonesian International Textile and Garment Machinery and Accessories Exhibition 2017 (Indo Intertex) has 'productivity for sustainability' as its theme. The event to be held in Jakarta from April 19-21, aims to attract over 9,000 visitors. More than 450 participants from 24 countries will showcase their machinery, equipment and more at the event.

The event will give visitors an opportunity to discuss sustainability, energy efficiency and automation in the textile sector with international market leaders.

The exhibition will attract visitors such as international government bodies, international associates, textile and yarn manufacturers, garment and apparel manufacturers, spinning mills, chemicals and dyestuff industry, business consultants, chain-store business owners, textile and apparel traders and buyers etc. The products on display at the exhibition would include fabrics and yarns among other things.

The textile industry needs to be oriented towards exports and ready-made garments for sustaining businesses. Latest technology should be used for producing cost efficient garments, said Paul Kingsen, project director of event organiser PeragaExpo at a press briefing.

Indonesia's textile exports raked in $13.2 billion in 2011, but have been declining since then to reach $11.8 billion in 2016. (KD)
