Fiji Fashion Week 2013 launches Master Designer Show

Jul '13
The official launch of the Fiji Fashion Week 2013 (FJFW), scheduled to take place later this year, took place with the Master Designer Show, which showcased creations from 10 best designers in Fiji personally picked by the FJFW’s executive director Ellen Whippy-Knight.

The show focused on the top designers, with each designer showcasing six pieces from their designs. Robert Kennedy, Aisea Konrote, Lana Smith, Elaine Taylor, Nazia Ali, Hupfeld Hoerder and Jean Ragg were some of the designers who presented their collections.

Mrs. Whippy-Knight said the standard of the designers was continuously improving and it would attract better things for the FJFW during the upcoming show. Knight believes this year’s show would be able to draw major international buyers, fijitimes.com reported.

Those who displayed their creations at the Master Designer Show included some of the country’s current established designers as well as emerging designers. The show held in capital Suva was introduced to showcase the pattern that FJFW will follow and to give an insight into what the designers would do during the show in October.

This year’s Fiji Fashion Week will have a theme ‘A Fashion in Paradise’, and would feature the creations of 92 designers, including new and upcoming designers under the Emerging Designers category.

The sixth edition of MHCC Fiji Fashion Week is scheduled to be held from October 1 to 5, 2013.
