Adjusted EPS soars 73.6% at Tempur Sealy in Q2

Adjusted EPS soared 73.6 per cent to $0.92 at Tempur Sealy in the three months ended June 30, 2016 as against $0.53 in the second quarter of 2015.

However, GAAP earnings per diluted share at the world's largest bedding provider were nearly flat at $0.35 as compared to $0.34 in the three months to June 30, 2015.

Total net sales increased 5.2 per cent to $804.4 million in the reporting quarter from $764.4 million in the prior year's second quarter.

On a constant currency basis, total net sales rose 6.6 per cent, with an increase of 6.4 per cent in the North America business segment and a hike of 7.6 per cent in the international business segment.

GAAP operating income surged 92.7 per cent to $100.2 million in the quarter under review as compared to $52.0 million in the second quarter of 2015.

GAAP net income rose at 0.5 per cent to $21.3 million vis-à-vis $21.2 million in the previous year's same quarter.

The company said it incurred a $47.2 million loss on extinguishment of debt associated with the completion of a new credit facility and new senior notes offering in the second quarter of 2016. (AR)
