Angolan textile factory Alassola will send a second shipment of cotton yarn weighing 100 tonnes from the port of Lobito to Portugal, to be used by some top Portuguese textile firms, according to company chairman Tambwe Mukaz. The first such shipment of 156 tonnes to Portugal was dispatched in October 2016, according to an African news agency report.

Alassola is the recovered form of former textile company África Têxtil, which was inaugurated in 1979, came to a standstill in 1998 and declared bankruptcy in 2000. Its recovery took five years and an investment of $450 million.

The industrial unit is focused on producing yarns, fabrics, towels, sheets and blankets, bedding, pillowcases, tablecloths and napkins. (DS)
