Cotton sector still viable despite drought – expert
October 30, 2009 (Australia)

The cotton sector in Australia is not the least perturbed by the collapse of the biggest cotton farm in the country; Cubbie Station and says that the standing crop will still yield a good quantity, despite the drought like situation.

The Southern Queensland based Cubbie Station has gone into voluntary administration after bids made by potential buyers failed to match the amount of its outstanding. The company has blamed the drought for its present condition.

A cotton expert commenting on the collapse of Cubbie said that, the crop is still very viable for farmers and the fundamentals of the cotton industry still remain, though the drought is having a big impact across the whole region.
