The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and the Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC), India recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), paving the way for increased trade and commerce between the two countries. The MoU enables the exchange of trade and commerce-related information, cooperation, and the setting up of the Dhaka Desk at BCC’s office and Kolkata Desk at BCI’s office.

The new agreement will facilitate participation in different trade fairs, expositions, and seminars in Dhaka and Kolkata. Both the BCI and BCC would work towards developing trade and investment between Bangladesh and India, according to a joint press release.

The MoU was signed by BCI president Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez and BCC president NG Khaitan at the board room of BCI.

The BCI president stated that Bangladesh has a vast number of potential sectors, where India can cooperate and work in joint initiatives. Besides, there is also scope for working in technology, skills development, and training.

The BCC president echoed the sentiments of the BCI president and said that his chamber could work with BCI in joint initiatives in Bangladesh. The BCC has also invited all concerned business leaders of Bangladesh to join the Business Summit in Kolkata.

A 14-member BCC delegation had arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh on a three-day visit, which preceded the signing of the MoU, local media reports said.
