Bangladesh seeks land in Gujarat for textile park

Bangladesh wants to set up a textile park in Kadi near Ahmedabad with an initial investment of Rs 240-300 crore, according to a newspaper report. The park will have spinning units with cumulative capacity of 1 lakh spindles. Bangladesh has sought around 100 acres of land from the state government for the project.
The request follows the visit of a high level trade delegation to Gujarat. last month.
While Bangladesh is a top garment manufacturing and exporting country, it depends largely on Gujarat for cotton and yarn. (SH)
