Ben Mead, who represents the Oeko-Tex Association in North America, will sit on an expert panel titled 'Greening the Supply Chain' to be held on August 16 at 1:30 pm at MAGIC.

Mead will join representatives from Alice + Whittles and AAFA to discuss how companies can manage, measure, benchmark, and leverage their sustainable supply chain practices.

“This leadership panel will also offer perspective on strategies for setting sustainability goals, engaging an organisation's key stakeholders and marketing sustainability efforts,” Oeko-Tex said.

According to the textile testing institute, the Oeko-Tex portfolio of independent, third party testing and certification programs offers many helpful tools for companies committed to sustainable textiles.

“The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the global standard for manufacturers, brands, and retailers that want to ensure their textile products are tested for more than 300 potentially harmful substances,” it said.

These harmful substances include lead and other heavy metals, pesticides, residual surfactants, carcinogenic dyestuffs, and formaldehyde.

While the STeP by Oeko-Tex certification is available for textile manufacturing facilities, that follow sustainable production guidelines that include environmental and social components. (AR)
