The third edition of BSTIM textile fair that was recently held in Igualada city of Spain witnessed 1,400 visitors from around the world, a figure similar to its previous two editions. They were mainly purchase managers, designers and distributors from European fashion brands from countries like Russia, England, Sweden, Norway, Holland and Italy.

The sixty exhibitors, mainly workshops that manufacture knitwear and dressmaking finished garments were satisfied with the contacts they made during the fair and hoped these contacts become potential future business connections. As per the exhibitors the profile of the visitors was of quality as they were managers of important Spanish brands with high capacity of purchase like Inditex, Corte Inglés or Cortefiel. Exhibitors also remarked that a large number of the visitors -about 500- attended the fair for the first time and this adds to the contacts they already had from the previous editions.

The textile fair BSTIM, organised by Fira d'Igualada, the textile group Fagepi and the Council of Igualada is the only fair for the textile production in Spain. It aims to show the country's potential of the textile production and encourage the big brands to manufacture here part of the production they were manufacturing in Asia. Among the advantages of manufacturing in proximity are the close contact, the possibility of shorter series, personalized designs, rapidity in delivering the finished garment and avoiding stocks and financial costs. Moreover, the companies also value the possibility of establishing a long-lasting relationship of confidence with the supplier to contribute to the development of the products of the brand.

Related to the idea of proximity, this year's BSTIM focused on encouraging sustainable fashion.
For this reason the main hall of the fair had a showroom organised with the Association Sustainable Fashion Barcelona that take into consideration the social and environmental impacts in their manufacturing process.

The next edition of BSTIM will be held in 2019. BSTIM grew in its third edition and for this reason the organisation has decided to hold it biannually. With this decision the fair adapts itself to the dynamic of the textile market. The biannual edition of the BSTIM fair will also lead to higher presence of buyers and increase in the number of exhibitors, as this event will become an unavoidable event in the calendar.(PA)
