As a part of its sustainable impact strategy, Canada Goose, manufacturer of winter clothing, commits to sustainability by pledging to reach 90 per cent Bluesign approved fabrics by 2025. This commitment will reduce the growing impact of the apparel industry on the environment and sets an example for the textile and manufacturing industries to follow.

In honour of Earth Day 2020, Canada Goose announced its continued commitment to environmental sustainability. In its sustainable impact strategy, Canada Goose has pledged to reach 90 per cent Bluesign approved fabrics by 2025. With a combined 80 years of sustainable business models, Bluesign and Canada Goose will further bolster efforts in working toward clean, responsible, and sustainable supply chains in the textile and apparel industries, according to a press release by Bluesign.

The Bluesign approved trademark applies to materials for apparel and textile equipment. Brands who commit to being a Bluesign System Partner allow for an assessment of their supply chain to ensure that their products and processes meet the stringent Bluesign Criteria guidelines for the industry workers, end consumers, and the environment.

Brands, such as Canada Goose, are especially important due to their influence on their products’ design, development, sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics. The Bluesign System is successful due to its strong partnerships in which the members of the supply chain are transparent, accountable, and proactive in their roles. Safety and traceability throughout the supply chain is possible due, in part, to the commitment of the members to the guidelines established by Bluesign.

“We have always believed in building a business that is good for our team, for the communities we’re a part of and for the planet, for generations to come. No matter how much we’ve done over the last 60 years, we need to do more – the world can’t wait. Our aggressive commitments outlined in our first sustainability report are the steps we’re taking to transform the way we do business and ensure we are doing everything we can to create the future we want to see,” Dani Reiss, president and CEO of Canada Goose said.

“I am happy to welcome Canada Goose into the Bluesign System. Bluesign holds our partners accountable to highest industry standard, only by doing so can we ensure we are making a real global change. We need to continue to move forward. Brands and companies such as Canada Goose who have sustainability engrained as a part of their core value will succeed in the eyes of the consumer. We are proud to work together with and partner with brands who continue to drive and push ambitious sustainable efforts and goals,” Jill Dumain, CEO of Bluesign said.
