China’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) development index stood at 88.2 in October 2022, which is the same as the level marked in September, thus reflecting a consistent recovery since the third quarter of 2022. The index measured is determined based on a recent study of 3,000 SMEs as per the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.The SME development index also comprises several sub-indices to evaluate expectations and performances of SMEs. The sub-index for industry rose to 0.1 point from September 2022, according to various Chinese media reports.
