China will focus on high-quality development of foreign trade during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). The State Council has already approved the implementation of a plan that will put forward guiding concepts, basic principles, main objectives, key tasks and support measures to boost foreign trade, said the country’s Ministry of Commerce.The plan takes into consideration innovation and development in foreign trade along with low-carbon transformation, digital transformation, further opening-up and better risk control. It also outlines 45 important tasks across ten categories with regards to the structure of goods trade, service trade innovation and new modes for international trade.
In the first three quarters of this year, China’s total imports and exports grew by 22.7 per cent YoY to reach 28.33 trillion yuan (approximately $4.43 trillion).
