The award was received by CITI’s chairman Sanjay Kumar Jain and TSC’s CEO, Dr. JV Rao. It was constituted by ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE) for the best performing skill council among the 40 sector skill councils. It was jointly established by the Government of India and various industries to meet the ambitious mission of empowering Indian youth with skill training and employability.
Over the past 3 years, TSC has established training ecosystem for 67 job roles which constitutes 80 per cent of workforce who are capable of providing both classroom and on-job training as per national occupational standards. This training ecosystem is recognised throughout the industry.
About 400 textile mills are affiliated to TSC, presently. They have also adopted the training ecosystem developed by TSC to train around 40,000 fresh trainees across the industry, said CITI’s press release.
TSC has certified about 65,000 handloom and powerloom weavers of 17 states including north east and Jammu & Kashmir. This programme has helped weavers to avail Pradhan Mantri Mudra loan to become first generation entrepreneurs. It has also helped weavers from Manipur to connect to European buyers. (VM)
