ColorZen wins innovation competition at CFS 2018

ColorZen has won the innovation competition at this year's Copenhagen Fashion Summit (CFS), the world’s leading business forum on sustainability in fashion. Of the 12 finalists, ColorZen emerged winner for its best technologies. Its technology is a revolutionary pre-treatment of the cotton fibre that makes the dyeing process both efficient and eco-friendly.

After a series of presentations and judging sessions over two days, ColorZen presented its technologies onstage to 1,300 attendees from more than 50 countries across the globe representing the fashion sector, politics, NGOs and academia.

ColorZen is a 'plug and play' technology, fully compatible with all existing dyeing equipment. "This 'plug and play' capability distinguishes it from many other technologies and makes it much easier to adopt and scale widely. While our treatment adds an upfront cost to the raw materials, garments made with ColorZen allow for an even better quality product, with a net lower cost than similar conventional products today," ColorZen CEO Michael Harari told Fibre2Fashion.

With its avant-garde pre-treatment technology, ColorZen applies a revolutionary safe treatment to raw cotton fibre to make the dyeing process significantly more efficient and sustainable. The unique properties of ColorZen technology allow for endless creative designs in heathers, stripes and other novelty patterns that would otherwise be constrained by cost and lead times.

ColorZen is fully compatible with all existing dyeing equipments. "While ColorZen's treatment modifies the molecular structure of the cotton to a positive charge, it does not materially change the properties of the fibre or final product. The process can in fact remove much of the cotton trash during treatment, allowing for a cleaner raw material for the manufacturer to use," explained Harari. (RR)
