Cotton arrivals rise to 3.19 lakh quintals in Punjab

About 3.19 lakh quintals of cotton has arrived in various markets in Punjab till now, the state mandi (wholesale market) board secretary told a meeting of concerned officials. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who recently reviewed cotton procurement, reiterated his commitment that the entire crop would be purchased at the minimum support price (MSP).

The minimum support price (MSP) has been fixed at Rs 4,220 per quintal by the government, according to media reports from Punjab.

The chief minister directed all deputy commissioners of cotton-producing districts to ensure that farmers got remunerative prices for their produce. (DS)
