A new chairman and three new directors have been appointed to Cotton Australia’s Board. The appointments were made at Cotton Australia’s annual general meeting, recently held on the Gold Coast. Cotton Australia is the peak body for Australia’s cotton producers, supporting more than 1200 cotton farming families in NSW, Queensland, and now, into Victoria.

Hamish McIntyre replaces the retiring Simon Corish as chairman of the Board. McIntyre, a grower from St George, has served as deputy chairman for the last three years. Existing Board member, Nigel Burnett, has been appointed the new deputy chairman of the Board, according to a Cotton Australia press release.

Bernard Bierhoff from the Walgett Cotton Growers’ Association, Susan McCutcheon from the Macquarie Cotton Growers’ Association, and Jeremy Callachor from Namoi Cotton have been appointed as directors. Bierhoff and McCutcheon assume Board positions vacated by Corish, Barb Grey, and Chris Hogendyk. Callachor was an existing director and successfully re-nominated for his Board position.

McIntyre said, “On behalf of the Cotton Australia Board, I thank the retiring Board members, Simon Corish, Barb Grey, and Chris Hogendyk, for their service, hard work, and commitment to our industry throughout their tenure. It is a great honour to be appointed chairman of Cotton Australia’s Board. I’m thoroughly looking forward to leading the Board and further supporting our industry. Similarly, the appointments of Bierhoff and McCutcheon, and the re-appointment of Callachor, will add further depth to the Board’s existing expertise, knowledge, and collective passion to represent our growers and enhance our industry.” (GK)
