While traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) was enterprise centric, its future is network centric, cloud-based and built to manage commerce in a global ecosystem, fostering flow of data across multiple enterprises, according to Bryan Nella, senior director of content & thought leadership and supply chain at New York City-based Infor.

The future of supply chain in the textiles and apparel sector will see manufacturers and suppliers increasingly becoming strategic differentiators and value-add partners to brands and retailers through co-innovation on new materials and products, niche projects to tackle challenging issues like sustainability and environmental responsibility, and a larger role in direct-to-consumer delivery, Nella told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
