Garmon Chemicals and CCI, along with Cottonsmith, a cotton USA brand license and the College of Fashion and Design, Donghua University, jointly held the event ‘Cotton Creation Era-Denim Creative Design Award Ceremony’, in Shanghai, on May 31, 2018. All the parties work to promote traceability and sustainability of cotton raw materials and fabrics.

The parties have joined hands to showcase break-through innovations to define the value of cotton in denim and in life. For this event, Cotton USA created opportunities for the integration of upstream and downstream supply chains, demonstrated design and fashion trends of cotton innovation and cotton apparel, creating high-quality cotton garments.

At the event, Cotton USA demonstrated the natural properties and practicality of cotton based on the concept of environmental protection and sustainability, through cotton products presented by Garmon Chemicals and Cottonsmith in a cotton-themed space created with a new perspective. The contestants from the Donghua University brought design works that are agile, pure, elegant, and dynamic, expressing the multi-dimensional interpretation of cotton and its unique style.

A group of heavyweight guests, senior judges, authoritative media, and clothing professionals shared a new trend in cotton life. After intense competition, eight works were selected as they crossed barriers and broke with tradition. Garmon Chemicals has awarded Jingtian Wang as the best student with the most promising design proposal in the fashion Contest, with a week of training in The Italian Job lab located in Italy. Cottonsmith has chosen the Best Commercial Potential Award product for further retail and ‘Mi’ online sales.

Donald Mulazzani, marketing and business development director of Garmon Chemicals said, “Awarding a young Chinese designer that has been able to interpret this theme with a fresh and new perspective, represents a way to promote and stimulate talent with a global vision in mind, expanding our horizons outside Europe”.

Karin Malmstrom director, China and Northeast Asia at Cotton USA said, “Cotton USA hopes to provide the students from the College of Fashion and Design (China’s future designers) with an opportunity to explore cotton creativity, participate in the business model platform and study future trends of cotton through this event.” (GK)
