"In consonance with the Government of India vision of 'Minimum Government and Maximum Governance', a leaner government machinery and the need for systematic rationalisation of government bodies, the Government of India has abolished All India Handloom Board with effect from the date of this resolution," development commissioner for handlooms Sanjay Rastogi said in a textiles ministry resolution dated July 27, 2020.
When it was first constituted on January 23, 1992, the All India Handloom Board had the Union minister of textiles as its chairman, with official members from the Central and state governments and non-official members from the handloom industry.
Thereafter, the All India Handloom Board was reconstituted from time to time.
