IBSD Imphal to host silk yarn production centre for women

A silk yam production centre for women will be set up at the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal, through community-based participation for training women for self employment, institute director Dinabandhu Sahoo has announced. Training will include operating the local-made multi-reeling-cum-twisting machine and dying methods.

The announcement was made while Sahoo was addressing the inaugural function of a three-day training programme on 'Reeling and Twisting of Silk Yam and Dyeing Techniques of Phige and Muga Phi' at IBSD’s technology and skill development centre recently, according to media reports in Imphal.

The training programme was organised by central government’s department of science and technology. (DS)
