The ministry of textiles, Government of India, has approved setting up of Kunbi Handloom Crafts Village in South Goa. To be built at a cost of ₹10 crore, the project is to be completed by March 2023. The financial grant and other support will be provided by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), under the textiles ministry.

“The project will be a big boon to artisans and weavers in Goa,” textiles minster Piyush Goyal said in a tweet.

The project was approved at a meeting of the Project Approval and Monitoring Committee (PMAC) held under the chairmanship of secretary (Textiles) on December 31, 2021.
